Through active assistance with hazardous trees, street median landscaping, and planting within the public rights of way, the Urban Forestry Department enhances the health, safety, and beauty of the urban forest. While trees must be removed due to hazardous defects, the Urban Forestry Department’s goal is to plant at least one tree for every tree that is removed in order to maintain urban tree canopy cover.
Some tree management programs include:
Foster-A-Tree-A tree planting partnership program between Edmond residents and the Urban Forestry Department
Hazard Trees - How to determine if a tree is growing in the "right-of-way"
Wild Fire Recovery-A program offering assistance with replanting trees in areas affected by the 2011wild fires
