  1. Sun Life Financial Accepting Grant Applications from Tulsa/Oklahoma City Nonprofit Organizations for Rising Star Awards

    April 10 - June 9

Sun Life Financial is accepting Sun Life Rising Star Awards grants from Tulsa/Oklahoma City Area nonprofit organizations that promote the academic achievement of under-served youth. Donating a total of $110,000 in grants and scholarships, Sun Life will award two winning organizations with $50,000 grants, and in turn, each nonprofit will nominate an exemplary student to receive a $5,000 Sun Life Rising Star scholarship towards financing a college education. Celebrating its fifth anniversary, the Sun Life Rising Star Awards program provides grants to nonprofit organizations in large urban districts, along with scholarships to under-served youth. This year, the program will award grants and scholarships in five metropolitan areas: Boston, Nashville, San Francisco, South Florida and the Tulsa/Oklahoma City area. By the end of 2014, Sun Life Financial will have committed nearly $5 million to 86 students and 79 nonprofit organizations in 16 different cities across the country.

  2. Champions of Health 2014 Call for Nominations

    April 30 - May 30 @ www.championsofhealth.org

For eleven years, the Champions of Health awards have sought to recognize those who make a difference. From the rural doctor working to address the health care needs of an isolated community, to the elected official fighting the obesity epidemic of his constituency, the Champions of Health awards have honored those efforts to improve the health of Oklahomans. Nonprofit winners in select categories will receive a $5,000 contribution to their organization or program, and will be considered for the highest honor, the Dr. Rodney Huey Memorial Champion of Oklahoma Health award. The recipient of this highest honor will receive $15,000. Winners will be announced at the 2014 Champions of Health Gala in the fall. To learn more about the event or to nominate a deserving individual or organization, go to championsofhealth.org. All nominations must be submitted by Friday, May 30. There is no cost to enter.
