Time for Chunkin’, Carvin’ & Huntin’ at Pumpkin Palooza

This year’s Parks and Recreation Pumpkin Palooza will take place on Saturday, October 27 from 5 – 8 p.m. in Mitch Park behind the Multi-Activity Center (MAC). This event is free for all ages.

There will be a pumpkin carving contest open to the first 30 registrants beginning at 5 p.m. As the sun begins to set the Flashlight Pumpkin Hunt will start, so bring flashlights. Participants can also test out their carpentry skills by bringing their own handmade catapult/trebuchet to send pumpkins sailing through the air during the annual pumpkin chunkin. Two pumpkins will be provided for each participant; however participants may bring up to five pumpkins of their own. Other festivities include arts & crafts and other pumpkin themed activities.

“This is another free, safe, family, fun event to enjoy the fall season provided by the City of Edmond Parks and Recreation Department. Kids are welcome to come dressed in their Halloween costumes for an evening of all things pumpkin,” said Diane Self, Recreation Program Manager.

About 500 people attended last year’s Pumpkin Palooza event.

Odyssey of the Mind will be selling grilled hamburger and hotdog combos (drink and chips) to raise money for a national competition in Michigan.

For instructions on building the catapult/trebuchet or any other questions on this event, please call 405-359-4630.
