The Edmond Youth Council is looking for members!Edmond Youth Council

We are looking for talented, passionate individuals from our city’s youth community to join our program and help make a difference in our city. As an Edmond Youth Council Member, you will act as a direct representative for Edmond’s youth community to local leaders. The Edmond Youth Council is designed to provide members—and Edmond’s larger youth body—with professional development opportunities, direct access to local political leaders, and significant influence in municipal politics.

About the EYC Program

The Edmond Youth Council program is your opportunity to learn about municipal government and potentially impact future policies. The program runs during the fall semester of school. During the Youth Council meetings, you will meet with city officials, take tours, and participate in presentations that will teach you about how your city government works. You and your fellow Youth Council Members will participate in a mock City Council meeting, where you will act as City Council Members making decisions on hot button issues. You will also have the opportunity to volunteer your time to help an organization of your choice.

  • You must be in the Sophomore or Junior class during the term in which you serve on the youth council.
  • You must attend an Edmond School (Public, Private or Homeschooled).
  • You must be able to attend all Edmond Youth Council meetings. Meetings are scheduled for the first and third Wednesdays of the months and run approximately 2 hours from 4:00pm-6:00pm.

Application Process

Fill out the application form by August 31st.  Along with this form you need to have one personal letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, employer, minister or family friend. Please make sure the letter clearly displays the name of the applicant and the letter should be emailed or mailed directly to the Youth Council Coordinator by the evaluator.
