Open Burning Information
The City of Edmond allows open burning for the purpose of yard brush and land clearing operations only. Only brush, tree limbs and shrubs are allowed to be burned. All refuse burning is prohibited.

Obtaining a Burning Permit
All open burning sites must have an approved Burn Permit. Residential burn permits can be filled out, submitted and then printed electronically (see permit below). A burn permit can also be obtained in person at Fire Station 5, located at 5300 E Covell Road, during normal working hours Monday – Friday 8:00-12:00 and 1:00-5:00. Burn permits are free to the public and are active for Six Months.

All commercial operators must come to Fire Station 5 to obtain a 30 day burn permit in person. New regulations and guidelines from the Edmond Fire Department and the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) for burning must be followed. These regulations and guidelines are outlined on the permit application and in the DEQ Title 252, Chapter 100, Subchapter 13 – Open Burning.

Apply for a City of Edmond Burn Permit

Permission to Burn
All residential burn permits are good for six months. Burning permission is required each day to burn. Permission to burn is obtained by calling a pre-recorded message 7 days a week at (405) 216-7999. Please be advised that burning is only allowed three hours after sunrise and all burning must stop three hours before sundown. All burn piles shall be completely extinguished at sunset.

Any person or resident obtaining a burn permit does so at his own risk and in no event shall any liability or damage be imposed upon the representative approving the permit, the Edmond Fire Department or the City of Edmond if damages and/or injury are sustained as a result of any burning.

Failure to comply with any provisions of this permit and/or its application may result in the loss of future burning privileges and/or the issuance of a municipal citation charging the permittee/applicant with direct violation of City Ordinance #993, Fire Prevention Code. All persons burning will need to also follow the Department of Environmental Quality regulations on Open Burning.
