Arbor Week Celebration
Arbor Week is the celebration of trees and the benefits that they provide to our community, from shading our homes and streets to purifying the air and water and improving our quality of life! Edmond celebrates with events throughout the last full week of March, which falls during the week of March 20th-26th this year.

Thank you to this year's Arbor Week sponsors: Frame Master Gallery, Citizens Bank of Edmond, Edmond Historical Society and Museum, Edmond Public Schools, and Edmond Visual Arts Commission.

Arbor Day Art Show
- March 11 - April 30
The Arbor Day Art Show puts on display the first-third place and honorable mention Arbor Day Art Contest pieces from each participating Edmond school. Using the theme "Trees in Our Town", students create artwork surrounding their interpretations of the community’s trees. Artwork for the 2016 Arbor Day Art Show will be on display at the Edmond Historical Society & Museum.  Visitors of the art show can enter a drawing to receive a tree throughout the duration of the exhibit.

Arbor Week Volunteer Events
Each year, Urban Forestry hosts events that involve the community with this annual celebration of trees.  Please check back soon for information about this year's events!

With all events, we encourage volunteers to wear close toed shoes and bring a pair of work gloves.  We have some tools available, but if volunteers would like to bring their own shovels or wheelbarrows, they are welcome to!
Celebrate Arbor Week at Home Too!
Arbor Week is not just for City sponsored activities. The Urban Forestry Department encourages all Edmond residents to celebrate Oklahoma Arbor Week by planting trees at their homes for energy savings, beautification, erosion prevention, wildlife habitat, and numerous other reasons. The month of March is a great time to plant trees, while the soil is thawing and tree buds are still dormant.  Read about proper planting technique on our tree planting page.
