Help for Overflowing Carts
Holiday Trash
Americans throw away about 25% more trash in the five weeks between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day. That’s an estimated extra 25 million tons of waste!

If you expect your cart to overflow with wrapping paper, boxes, and holiday leftovers, Solid Waste Services has a solution. Residential customers can set out city-coded bags along with the weekly cart collection.

Details
Here’s what you need to know:
  • Be sure to leave at least 4 feet between the green carts and the blue city-coded bags. City-Coded bags can be purchased at many Edmond area grocery, discount and home improvement stores as well as the Utility Customer Service office at 7 N. Broadway. Pick up is limited to six (6) bags at one time.
  • It is important to place your carts and city-coded bags at your curbside by 7:00 am on your normal collection day. Please place cart within one foot  of curb.
  • The blue city-coded bags should be used for any overflow that won’t fit in your cart. (Please note: The cost of these bags covers the pick-up and disposal fee - so, we can’t collect other bags or boxes. Thank you for your cooperation!)
