Get Into A Life-Saving Habit

Change Your Clocks March 9th - Change Your Batteries

Changing smoke alarm and carbon monoxide detector batteries when you reset your clocks for daylight saving time, is one of the simplest, most effective ways to reduce tragic deaths and injuries from fire. In fact, working smoke alarms nearly cut in half the risk of dying in a home fire.

The Edmond Fire Department urge residents to check home smoke alarms on a regular basis. Properly installed and maintained smoke alarms save lives and protect against injury and loss due to fire.

Smoke alarms have a limited life span. Alarms that are ten years old or older need to be replaced. Normally, you can learn the age of your device by looking for a date stamp on the back of the alarm. If your detector is ten years old or older, contact the Edmond Fire Department to have an alarm delivered and installed free of charge.
