What happens if I fail to appear in court or fail to pay a traffic ticket?
If a ticket remains unpaid more than 15 days after a scheduled court date, a warrant will be issued and a request for suspension of your driver's license may be made to the Department of Public Safety.
Can I mail or fax in proof of insurance or proof of valid driver's license?
Yes, if insurance coverage or driver’s license was in effect at the time of the ticket.
What should I do if I've been involved in a traffic accident?
First, Call 911 or (405) 359-4494 for police response. Oklahoma State Statute requires you to give your name, address, and Vehicle Identification Number at the scene of an accident. It is also a good idea to write down a description of the other driver's vehicle (year, color, model, license plate, etc.), as well as exchanging your insurance information and possibly a phone number.
Can I phone in an accident report?
All accident reports must be reported in person. You must either make the report with the officer that responds to the scene, or by actually coming into the Police Department and making a "walk-in" report.
