Storm Drain Marking
Edmond's storm sewers are designed to capture and convey rainfall runoff to nearby waterways. Unfortunately, many pollutants such as oil, antifreeze, and paint are dumped into Edmond's storm sewers. Rainwater flowing through the storm sewers transports these pollutants (untreated) into area creeks and ponds. Many of these creeks eventually lead to Arcadia Lake, our drinking water supply.
In an effort to reduce this pollution, the City of Edmond encourages volunteers to participate in marking neighborhood stormdrains. Volunteers are essential in Edmond's effort to protect our waterways. By placing a storm drain marker with the simple message "No Dumping - Drains to Creek" next to storm sewer inlets, we add a layer of pollution protection for area waters
A neighborhood that has storm drain markers shows its pride in keeping Edmond one of the cleanest cities in the nation. If you would like to volunteer please call (405) 359-4772 for more information.
