Here’s How It’s Done!
Call Solid Waste Services at (405) 359-4541 before you put your large item at the curb/roadside. You will be given the exact collection date and the fees that will apply. The fee will be included on your next utility bill.
If you occasionally have loose materials such as grass clippings, leaves or vegetation pruning that won't fit in your cart; use the 30-gallon City-Coded Bags. The cost of the City-Coded Bag "prepays" the fee for collecting and disposing of the bag and its contents. The driver on the automated cart collection truck notifies us when you have City-Coded Bags to be picked up.
Leave at least four (4) feet between large, bulk materials and mailbox, poles, fences, etc. Bulk collection equipment uses a clam shell loader device which needs clearance space to work.
Discarded appliances collected are RECYCLED as scrap metal.
- Special Precaution: United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requires all refrigerates (coolants, freon, etc.) to be evacuated and captured before refrigerators, freezers or air conditioners can be disposed of. This requirement protects the environment from coolant agent release to atmosphere which damages the ozone layer.
- Compressors must be removed from REFRIGERATORS, FREEZERS and/or AIR CONDITIONERS to show that freon or coolants have been removed before collectors are allowed to pick them up or landfill operators will accept them.
Tree Limbs and Mulch
We can chip your tree limbs into mulch if you and your neighbors can use it for landscaping needs. We cannot store the mulch.
Each year we collect Christmas trees at your curb or provide a place for you to drop them off at either Hafer and Mitch Park during the month of January. Trees are chipped for cedar mulch and delivered to a designated city park for citizen's to pick up about mid February.
Contact Solid Waste Services at (405)359-4541 to find out where and when the chips and mulch are available.
