Edmond Electric's system has a typical structure with power being provided from Oklahoma Municipal Power Authority (OMPA). Our function is the distribution of power from our source to Edmond homes and businesses. Our service territory covers 90 square miles and has approximately 617 miles of overhead and 657 miles of underground electric lines. To service our community’s estimated population of 83,000 we use approximately 35,000 electric meters, 6,300 distribution transformers and nine substations.
Power Supply
Electric power for OMPA members comes from a variety of sources. OMPA seeks a balanced approach to power supply resources available to meet load growth needs. OMPA member cities are joint-owners of generating plants in four states - Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas.
