Arbor Week is Coming!
Edmond’s Arbor Week Celebration will take place from March 26th to March 31st this year. Festivities will include a community-wide art show for fifth graders and two tree planting events. See below for more information about this year’s events.
At this meeting, Mayor Charles Lamb will kick off Arbor Week by presenting Edmond’s 2018 Arbor Week Proclamation. Next, the First, Second, and Third Place Best of Show winners from the Arbor Day Art Show will receive recognition. Mark Bays, Oklahoma's Urban Forestry Coordinator will also present City Council with Edmond's Tree City USA and Edmond Electric's Tree Line USA recertifications. The City Council meeting will take place at 20 S Littler and begins at 5:30 PM.

Volunteer Opportunities
Arbor Week in Edmond traditionally includes multiple events where individuals and community groups can come together to enhance and care for Edmond’s urban forest. See below for information about this year’s opportunities.
Tree Planting at Swan Lake Detention Area
On Thursday March 29th at 4 PM, volunteers will plant 28 trees around the detention pond at Swan Lake Rd and N Kelly Ave. Parking is available along the street on Swan Lake Rd. Sign up to volunteer.
Tree Planting at Carl Reherman Park
At the eighth annual Arbor Day Tree Planting on Saturday March 31st at 10 AM, volunteers will plant 32 trees to enhance Carl Reherman Park, the new park located on the west side of Arcadia Lake off of E 33rd St and Air Depot. As with past years, Urban Forestry will provide lunch for volunteers after planting is completed. The Parks and Recreation Department will have lawn games and other recreational activities for participants at this year’s event. Sign up to volunteer.
Arbor Day Art Show
This year’s Arbor Day Art Show opened on March 17th and will run through April 28th at the Edmond Historical Society and Museum (401 S Boulevard). Fifth graders from 19 Edmond schools submitted entries into this year's Arbor Day Art Contest. From each school, the Urban Forestry Commission selected First, Second, and Third place and an Honorable Mention to participate in the Arbor Day Art Show. The Edmond Visual Arts Commission has also served as judges for the “Best of Show Awards”. They have selected overall First, Second, and Third Place “Best of Show” winners who will be recognized at the City Council meeting on March 26th and receive gift cards sponsored by Citizens Bank of Edmond.
