Edmond Police Department will be accepting applications for Police Officer, beginning on Monday, November 2, 2020 until Monday December 14, 2020.
Candidates must meet the minimum qualifications as specified below at the time of application.
Must be at least 21 years of age, & be in excellent physical condition.
Must possess, or be able to obtain, a valid Oklahoma Driver's License.
Must possess basic computer knowledge.
Must possess an excellent history of personal conduct, behavior and employment, & have no felony convictions.
Must be able to learn modern approved principles, practices & procedures of police work.
Must have a high level of intelligence and emotional stability, decision making and leadership skills.
Must be able to maintain information confidentially, have tact and diplomacy and have the ability to deal with stressful, hostile or irrational persons/situations.
In addition to the above, applicants MUST HAVE AT LEAST ONE of the following qualifications:
Completed a minimum of thirty (30) hours of college credit by 5/10/21, with a grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 or higher, OR
Completed a minimum of fifteen (15) hours of college credit by 5/10/21, with a GPA of 2.0 or higher AND two (2) years full time police experience with a local, state or federal law enforcement organization, OR
Completed a minimum of fifteen (15) hours of college credit by 5/10/21, with a GPA of 2.0 or higher AND at least four (4) years active duty military experience with a discharge under honorable conditions, OR
Completed a minimum of fifteen (15) hours of college credit by 5/10/21, with a GPA of 2.0 or higher AND at least four (4) years as an Edmond Police Department Detention Officer.
All selected candidates will be required to pass the Edmond Basic Police Academy and the City of Edmond Field Training Program.
